Rain Rain Go Away!

May 18, 2015

Before I even start writing I'll show you what we woke up to.

We walked through a lot of puddles today!

This was taken just after Bernadette managed to slip down the stairs.

It rained and stormed all night long. A little rain never stopped us! As you will see in today's pictures, we got a lot done! This is my third trip to Tutwiler and the first time I've framed a house, it is very rewarding.  We started with an empty slab and by the end of the day we raised two sides of the house and built a third. After we lifted up the first frame I said to Chris, "I feel very Amish". I'd only seen it in the movies and it was just as fun as it looks. Some of you may not agree with me but for us Tutwiler folk it was great fun.

Bernadette managed to be our first casualty when she slipped on a stick and fell off the platform of the trailer. She was bruised and but not broken! Kristin managed to be our second casualty. She didn't get hurt when she fell backwards and landed flat on her back in a mud puddle. According to Kristin it was Dino's fault that a nail managed to impale her leg, Dino begs to differ. She is fine. Kristin made a quick trip across the street to the health clinic to get checked out, and then took a trip in to Clarksville for a tetanus shot.  She was back on site in the afternoon to help us raise the frame. Both of these events took place before lunch on day one. Fortunately the afternoon was injury free. As a side note for my friends and family who aware of my tendency to fall and injure myself... I was NOT one of today's casualties!

I want to thank John for today's pictures, they speak for themselves.
More tomorrow,

Casey

We squished through the worksite to find "The Slab"

Measure twice...cut once!

Natalie and Dino were supervising.

Almost ready to raise.

One, two, three...

Setting the frame over the bolts...watch your toes!

  1. May your injuries heal quickly! That Mississippi gumbo mud is going to be fun once the sun comes out. :-)
